Political cartoon drawing in pen and ink on paper by William Niven (1890 Greenock - 1947 Greenock). Undated and untitled by the artist. Signed at the lower left 'WN'. The subject is unemployment shows a scene in a theatre with David Lloyd George (1863-1945) (in the form of a woman wearing a hat marked Unemployment), walking on stage in front of an audience, Ramsay Macdonald (1866-1937) and Stanley Baldwin (1867-1947) (wearing a hat marked De-rating) looking on from behind a screen. Intended for publication as a cartoon for The Bulletin and Scots Pictorial newspaper which was published in Glasgow between 1913 and 1960. |
