Description |
A nineteenth century Japanese swordguard or tsuba in shakudo. It is without an aperture for the kogai but with an aperture for the kozuka. The tsuba has a carved decoration of chrysanthemums. No inscription. Shakudo is a mixture of gold and copper (typically 4-10% gold and 90-96% copper). It can be patinated to dark colour resembling lacquer. |
