Oil painting on canvas entitled 'Portrait of a Gentleman in a Blue Coat' by Allan Ramsay (1713 Edinburgh - 1783 Dover). Signed and dated 'A. Ramsay 1741' at the lower right, outside the feigned oval, by the artist. The painting shows a half portrait of a man facing left, his head turned towards the viewer, wearing a wig and a 'navy' blue coat decorated with gold braid. He carries his hat in his left hand. The portrait is executed within a feigned oval. |
