Description |
Nineteenth century quiver from the 'East Indies' made of leather with decorative fibre binding coloured dark and light brown. The quiver is lacks a cap for cover at the top. The quiver was bequeathed by the estate of Thomas Oliphant Hunter (1813-1877), Provost of Greenock 1855-1858. Hunter was a shipping agent with a partner, Thomas Somervail of Glasgow. They sent ships to Bombay from at least 1846 and the quiver was probably acquired as the result of one of these voyages. |
