Description |
A nineteenth century fan from the Hawaii Islands. The fan is made from coconut fibre and is heart shaped with fibre cord as binding on the handle. Label with previous number '237' affixed. This object was collected by Thomas Steel (1858-1925), an industrial chemist and naturalist, probably during the period he was working in the Pacific at the sugar refinery at Nausori, Fiji from 1885 to 1887. |
