First World War period British recruitment propaganda lithograph poster published in 1915. The poster shows a full length portrait of the John Bull character with a top hat and a Union flag waistcoat. He points towards the viewer and in the background is a row of British infantrymen and, on the left, buildings on fire. Above the image is the text: 'WHO'S ABSENT?' Beneath the image is the text: 'Is it You?' and at the base of the poster: 'PUBLISHED BY THE PARLIAMENTARY RECRUITING COMMITTEE, LONDON. POSTER No. 125.' and 'PRINTED BY ANDREW REID AND CO., LTD., 50, GREY STREET, NEWCASTLE-ON-TYNE.' The poster was issued as Parliamentary Recruiting Committee Poster No.125. in 1915. |
