Drawing in pencil on cream paper entitled 'The Anchor Inn, Greenock' by Patrick Downie (1854 Greenock -1945 Largs). Signed 'Patrick Downie' by the artist at the lower right and titled and dated 'Anchor Inn 1879' at the lower left. The drawing shows a street scene with figures and buildings on the right, including one with a sign 'Wine & Spirits'. This work was conserved with the generous assistance of the Scottish Museums Council. |
